I'm not sure if it's actually the Tap House Grill or just the satisfaction of multiple Alpha Kings, delicious soft pretzels, and kick ass fish and chips (plus a healthy bite of my man's burger) in mah belly, but this was a glorious night out. This was my first time at the Tap House Grill. There are 3 rooms; one when you walk in surrounding the bar, one small connecting room with four tables, and a room with booths in the back. I'm not sure if you ever get seated by a host(ess) here, but we sat ourselves menus and all. There were flat screens for the tv watchers, decent beer for the craft beer drinkers (Alpha King on tap? YES PLEASE!), and everything we had was DELICIOUS. Tap House Grill is the first restaurant that had awesome soft pretzels...others are always too hard, too this, too that, but these were fanfreakingtastic. My husband had the original and cheddar pretzels and I ate the honey rosemary and smoked cayenne ones. They came with the best honey mustard I have ever had (and a Guinness cheese sauce). HELL YES. I had the fish and chips appetizer for dinner and it was more than enough. Three small grouper (not generic "white fish"!) filets with an ale batter and TOTS. TOTS!! I love a place that has tots, obviously. The tartar sauce was on the sweet side (but I was sauced enough not to care) and there was also a curry mayo too (too curry-y for me). The fish was really fresh and the batter was perfect. These may be my new fish and chip favorites. The burger was cooked perfectly too. Service was decent. Enough said. There also seems to be a lot of deal nights too, although I must say that "Ladies Night", was totally lame. Why is it always martinis and margaritas for "Ladies Nights"? I wish it were a you-call-it so I can be a lady AND drink craft beer for a deal, alas, I am apparently no lady. And fish tacos for Ladies Night? C'mon, man. The deals that were most impressive were on burger nights, wing nights, and $4 IPA night. I can't tell you which was which though, so check the website. Am I just drunk? Maybe. But I'm still impressed. Tap House Grill is definitely a new fave.

I go here with the same group of people, or should I say person, mostly. Even though we've gone there trying to get our drank on it's not that type of environment. Even after 11 pm, by then you get the men going through mid life crisis trying to pick you up. Ugh. Anyways, you walk in and right away you meet the bar and some booths. You walk through a little hall and you're in the second room with some high tops and a lobster tank. You can pick your own lobster so they can boil it right up for you. Yikes! Thru another little hallway is the dining room. It's pretty large, lots of booths. Their food is pretty good and the service is also good, but I suspect it's because they know the people I go with.

Phenomenal food, fair prices and the selection of craft beer is awesome. Friendly people and generally rare find in the western suburbs. Highly recommended. The only thing that takes away from the british pub ambience is ridiculous TV's everywhere.

Aw man. I have been to the Tap House Grill in Highwood and really enjoyed my many experiences there. I suggested this location for a 'girls dinner' with a few of my friends for the holidays. When we sat down in the back room we noticed it was pretty cold. The Bears game was on in the front area with sound and in the back without sound, so we decided to say back there despite the chill. We asked if it was possible to bump up the temp a few degrees and our server happily agreed to do so. We heard it go on, but it just never warmed up. Our server was great and very helpful despite a few problems with one of our meals. Three of us got our food to order, but one friend ordered a medium well burger and ended up getting it medium rare. It was too much of a difference for her and she asked for a new one cooked a little longer. Again, our server was sorry about the issue and got another one cooking right away. He brought her side (a salad) to eat while she waited which was great. Well, it came back again and it was cooked the same way. Bummer. We were almost done and she was still starving. What is going on back in the kitchen to get it wrong for a second time? There were about 15 people in the whole place, so it was not busy. She ended up getting a chicken sandwich and they took it off the bill. I picked the place so I felt bad. Good new is that she really liked the chicken sandwich. I won't be back to this location for food but maybe in the front area to watch a game and sit at the bar.

The saving grace is the cheese curds. Went on mothers day. .they had a special menu ..they opened at ten, but when we arrived at ten for our reservation we didn't get seated till ten twenty. And the place was empty so its not like there wasn't a table. They were running around like they walked in five minutes before us. We watched as the staff kept walking by us ignoring us, and the only one other family in the place. After we sat down it took another ten minutes to place a drink order with a waitress. We never did get water..and we got our own silverware from this cart. They didnt even have the menu ready. The waitress said they were printing them. What! Our waitress was unfriendly and I felt like she could care less. Not impressed. Ive tried this place several times, but this was it. Find somewhere else to go. Dont order mac n cheese if you ignore my advice and try this place. Cheese curds good..burger boring. Thanks for a crappy mothers day meal.

I was in the area and stopped in for an early dinner before the Blackhawk game. Based on my waiter's reco I had their signature sandwich, Braised Beef and Gouda, and was disappointed. The flavor was fine, sandwich size was OK but the baguette was as hard as a rock. Seriously I thought I was going to lose a tooth trying to get a bite out of it. It came with tots and they were standard tots. Service was good and they poured a good drink which is why I gave them 2 stars instead of 1. No reason to return.

To update the prior review, the burger night was moved from Wednesday night to Tuesday night. They are well worth it. And I still like coming on Sunday for the $5 wings and fries which is a ton of food. They regularly have three Floyd's gumball head and other various craft beers including solemn oath from naperville.

I've been to this location once before for lunch...I've also been to the St. Charles location. I came here for 5:30 dinner on a Friday this past weekend. I figured any place anywhere would be pretty busy at this time but there was plenty of seating when we got in. Parking is another story in Downtown Glen Ellyn, so I can't judge the crowds in the restaurants based on that... again, plenty of room in this place at that time. I was a little undecided about what to order, but I decided to get the appetizer Sam Adams battered chicken fingers and a side of Tater Tots...any place with Tots on the menu is A-ok, by me!!! These two were probably of good proportion...the appetizer size was well, the size that maybe two people would split before a meal, just a few small ones, and the side of tots was of decent proportion too... definitely not enough to split with someone, but just right for one. I will say for the size of this place, it's pretty narrow, but deep... gets a little loud, especially in the bar area by the entrance, but as time went on and it cleared out, it got a little better. The service was decent, our server may have been a little on the borderline side of coming by a little too often to make sure our refills were up to par, if we wanted anything else, etc. If I had room for dessert, that homemade kit kat looked appealing so I'm sure at some point I'll be back again to try that!

I've been to the locations in St. Charles and Palatine and prefer both of those in terms of space and atmosphere. A couple of issues. First, iced tea should not be coming out of a soda gun. God only knows where that tea is coming from, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't brewed. Second, the wings were a disappointment. They were breaded and tasted really heavy, especially with the thick Boston lager BBQ sauce. The service was ok, nothing particularly great. Also, most of the TVs at the bar weren't high definition. Major thumbs down for that.

This place isn't anything special, but will have plenty of seats open on Saturday night. It is decent enough for a small town bar, but like I said nothing special. The wait staff is friendly and quick (maybe because there weren't too many patrons?) Drinks are cheaper than Chicago prices. NICE!

So, I was there with a group and we went there to say goodbye to a friend that was moving away. One of the reasons that we went there was because of the Bacon Appetizer (deep fried battered bacon!) you can tell that I just like talking about it. We were told that it was discontinued (so were the Won Tons WTH?) The manager said that they had the ingredients and they went ahead and made it for us anyway (kudos!) So we got a couple of orders of that deep fried bacon (yum!) But if you go there looking for it, they will probably not have it on the menu (shaking head) They still have decent food.. but, *sigh*

Finally had a chance to try the Chicago WingFest 2013 winning wings. As someone who spent nine years in western NY, I consider myself not just an aficionado but a connoisseur and informed critic as well. If you like a breaded wing, these babies are your deal. They come out of the kitchen well cooked and crispy. Neither mild- nor Buffalo-style had any particular heat. The "Exotic" wings are bathed in a sriracha/sweet chili sauce which I think really combines well with the breading. I've uploaded a pic of these wings. Not the biggest wings ever, but well worth .50 or less per wing. Went in before the Super Bowl, got the $9.99 all-you-can-eat wing deal, polished off 20, feeling like I got my money's worth. Was served at the bar by Brittany, who was friendly, watchful and prompt. They have Sprecher Root Beer on tap.

Casual style local pub. It's that place you go to watch the game and/or hang out with friends while eating American style pub food and drinking a beer. I've been a few times and have experienced very good service on each visit. I personally enjoy the apple walnut salad and a glass of red wine.

My crew and I were bar hopping last weekend for St. Patty's Day. We ditched Shannon's Irish pub to come here. We were pretty well under way for a memorable St. Patty's Day. None the less, Lisa (I think that was her name) our waitress handled our rowdy group with ease. The bar was already packed, and we all quickly had green beers in hand. Lisa was quick, and as far as I can tell the bartender was okay with all drink orders. I haven't had the infamous tots, but boy do I want some now.

We have been here twice now and were really impressed with the food. The first time we came just the two of us on a Sunday for lunch and sat in one of the window seats by the front door in the bar area which was kind of fun but not very comfortable. We came back this weekend on a Saturday night and brought my parents and sat in the back room in a super comfortable large booth- it was great and we liked that area much better. They have several rooms for seating that are all different and also outdoor seating in the front and back of the restaurant too. We thought the pretzel appetizer was one of the best we've had anywhere- delicious! The mustard that comes with it is better than usual as well. We tried the fried pickles the first time and they were good but soggy and the pickles were sweeter than we tend to like. They were served over a salad or lettuce which we didn't understand at all. Go for the pretzels! One bummer this Saturday night was that our meal came about 5 minutes after the appetizers so we didn't have time to enjoy the appetizers- I wish it had been more spaced out timing-wise. The beer menu is awesome too. I loved the prime rib pretzel sandwich and got it both times- it's perfectly flavored and comes with au jus and a horseradish sauce. The pretzel bun was soft and perfect. We chose tater tots as a side and they were the best we've had anywhere! Perfectly crispy, every one. The first time my husband got a burger and thought it was great but this time he got the special sandwich- the Sprecher Rootbeer Glazed Beef and Gouda which the menu says was featured as one of the best sandwiches of 2011. He thought it was excellent and it was huge! My dad got the salmon arugula salad and ate every single bite. He also liked the chili but said it was milder than he expected. My mom, who is picky, really loved the prime rib pretzel sandwich too. We had a good experience both times and all really loved the food- when 4 people all agree, that's something! :)

Food definitely impressive! Cheese curds were different than the local bars in the area, crunchy and big along with two sauces. Wing deal on Sunday night is completely worth the $5! A very large portion of boneless wings with fries! The only drawback was the service was slow (friendly though) even when their wasn't a large crowd.

OK, I'm still not a fan of the menu. I avoid factory farmed meat and there aren't many veggie options on the menu. But my husband loves the beer list and they have the best patio we've found in the Elmhurst-Lombard-Glen Ellyn area. It's quiet, shaded, and oh-so relaxing. The perfect place to chill with friends on a weekend afternoon.

Meh best describes my visit to Tap House Grill. I met my cousin here for lunch yesterday and it was fairly disappointing. They had great Sunday specials ($4.50 Bloody Mary's and $2.50 Miller Lites) and we definitely enjoyed those but the service and the food were not great. I had the Prime Rib French Dip and the meat was pretty fatty and flavorless, there was also barely any au jus served with it. The fries were redeeming though and very well seasoned. We were there for several hours and after we ate as the waitress if we could move to the front patio, we offered to close out our check with her before we moved. She reassured us numerous times she did not mind serving us out front and to keep our tab open. Needless to say she never once came out front to check on us and we frequently headed inside to get refills on our waters and beers which wouldn't have been a big deal if she had not explicitly offered to keep serving us. Oh well, whatcha gonna do? I've had much better experiences and I do not think I'll be back.

This place has major sewer issues! When the sewer is not overflowing in the basement the bar sink vent is clogged and stinks every time the bartender washes a few glasses. Beer selection is usually pretty good but when they close off both gender bathrooms because of sewer issues it hard to have more than one.

My date and I stopped here yesterday for an early dinner as we were in town for the Taste of Glen Ellyn Festival. When we walked in, there were only a handful of diners but as we sat there, the place be began to fill up and get loud.... Which is fine. The problem is the server we had sucked. We sat there and had our meal and drinks over a 45 minute to an hour timeframe...... she checked on us twice!! At first I thought it was managements fault because they didn't staff properly due to the festival in town and the poor waitresses were overwhelmed. But then once I tracked my server down, I ask her for my check because I've been sitting there 15 minutes waiting (no mind you, I didn't say any of this to her because that would've been rude at the time) so should bring my check to me, I look it over and set it on the table with my card to pay.... And wait another 10 minutes and she never comes back !! So I take the bill up to the bar and check out up there. So the service sucks or it did this night..... As far as the food, the food was pretty good! I got the crispy shrimp tacos it was loaded with shrimp, they put this great chili lime sauce drizzled over the top of them which was very flavorful. It was fresh and they fixed it the way I wanted it. My date had a salad with steak over-the-top and the steak was excellent. It was cooked perfectly, it was marinated it's taste like and it was very flavorful.... And the salad with fresh too So I hate to take away from the food but my overall experience there was ruined due to this lack of service.

Visited the restaurant on a Saturday evening for dinner. Busy yet no wait for our table. They have an impressive beer list. The food was well done and the fried pickles did not disappoint. Good place to visit for a meal or a night of drinks with friends.

I very rarely post reviews of restaurants, but this I have too.. First off, 3 drop ceilings away, there appeared to be water damage with mold. There was nats everywhere where we sat. I asked for my beer to come out with the meal, beer came out with initial drinks (no biggie). Server didn't know the menu as they asked my friend if what he was ordering "was real" and asked "what's on it?" I got the bacon/blue/mushroom burger, asked for no mushrooms/no tomatoes, got both anyways & the server said "just scrape it off" (still no biggie).... But then..... They forgot to put my other friends order in... By time we were all done eating, her order came out. The server switched on us to help another table because I think they knew they messed up pretty bad. AFTER we paid our full bill (to not look like assholes getting free stuff), we let the 2nd server know whats up, they apologized with 3, $10 gift certificates for a table of 6 (bill was $140), better then nothing but besides the ambience of black mold on the drop ceiling, the nats, and the terrible service ; THE FOOD WAS PHENOMENAL.... I will not be back to this location, but will not disregard the brand totally because again, the food was so damn good.

On the one hand: Loaded tater totchos. Tater tots smothered with chili, cheese, sour cream and corn salsa. When you are starving and shaky from low blood sugar, these are pretty much the best thing ever. On the other hand: If I hadn't been so gosh-darned hungry, would I have thought so highly of them? The menu is promising -- full of creative flatbreads, mac & cheeses, wings, sandwiches, etc. The beer list is OK; it's much bigger at the other locations. The atmosphere is that of a neighborhood pub, small and cozy and full of TVs and hightops. I thought the food was good -- the aforementioned totchos plus the Adobe Chicken Wrap. But the thing is, we have a LOT of bar/grill type places near us -- so if I can get equally good food (or better) closer to home, why drive even this far? (And it's not that far, really.) I do appreciate that they're trying new things, but I'm not sure they stand out that much. Service was a little uneven, but friendly. Put it this way: If I'm already in downtown Glen Ellyn or have reason to be, or if I'm near one of their other locations, I wouldn't hesitate to stop in. It's solid. But I'm not sure I'd go out of my way to return.

    (3)
  • Mark G.

I'm pretty confident that I will not return, as everything about this Glen Ellyn location is smaller. The bar/restaunt itself, the beer list, and the tiny little downtown area clusterfudge it resides in. I was not impressed with the food as I normally am with Tap House. Although it may be what I chose to order rather than the location itself. I decided to get some wings since they were on special. Decent, but not too impressive. I've definitely had better. I also tired the pulled pork nachos for the first time. It made me realize that pulled pork doesn't belong on nachos. Out of the two Tap House locations I've been to, I much prefer the one in Westmont.

I don't care what anyone says... We just had an amazing meal that was worth the treacherous driving conditions. Get the green chili pulled pork nachos. Just order then when you sit down. Then get the tipsy trout burger. Wash it down with a selection from their creative beer list, perhaps a Church Street Lager. Top it off with a slice of the stuffed chocolate cake. It was crazy busy but our server, Samantha, made it a point to stop by several times. We'll definitely be back.

We went there for the first time on a Friday night. Our decision was based on the fact that they serve 3 Flloyds gumball head on tap and that we had a coupon from the discount booklet from GBN football players. The menu was large with lots of options. We had the totchos for an app. It was tater tots covered in cheese sauce, chili and other nacho toppings. They were a good app, wouldn't get it as a main course, but anytime there is cheese sauce involved I am in. For entrees we got mac n cheese and the braised beef ravioli. Mac and cheese was tasty but a little too saucy. It had breadcrumbs on top but would be better if there was an options for add-ins likes bacon, chicken, or tomato. I had the braised beef filled ravioli with cream sauce and butternut squash strips. Mine was tasty, but also was a little heavy on the sauce. For dessert we had the deep fried donuts. YUM! freshly fried doughnuts were crispy on the outside, soft on the inside and drizzled with chocolate sauce. There was a lot in the order, especially for two people and I may or may not have brought the left overs home and had them for breakfast. The beer was good and they had a lot on tap, my sangria was just ok, not great, not bad. Service was fine. Its a casual bar so I didn't expect 5 star service. Our server had a lot of tables and seemed to handle them all just fine. She and the bar tender were both very friendly and it seems that this is a local adult hang out for many Glen Ellyn folks. It seemed that everyone that walked in knew someone else already in the restaurant and the server and bartender seemed to know them all as well. We will return as there are many interesting and tasty things we still want to try. Its definitely a casual place but even me, the customer service snob, was ok with the way we were waited on.

Great customer service, great food! My family (my husband, me, and three kids) went here for dinner on the Saturday before Valentine's day for a nice family meal. I did make reservations beforehand for 6 o'clock because I didn't know if it was going to be crowded or not. I am glad I did because this is one hopping place, with good reason! Their menu is amazing--look online, they have tons of different kinds of macaroni and cheese--how can you go wrong?! I ordered the Chicken Caesar Panini with my side as a salad, and everything was reeeeeally good. Although the bread for the panini was more toasted than panini-like. However, it was all still very good! My husband got the hot boneless wings and a sampler of the screamer wings. He kept eating them saying "these aren't hot AT ALL."...and then he started to sweat! So I guess they were spicier than he originally thought! My daughter got the macaroni and cheese with tator tots, and she ate every last bite. Finally, you NEED to get dessert!! They have two things that we ordered that were amazing--the homemade kit kat bars and the chocolate caramel donuts. Both were really good, but the kit kat bars were especially delicious! Our waitress was busy, but extremely attentive! Our drinks were never less than halfway empty! they have what look like a lot of good food options, and I will definitely be back to this location!!

I was very excited to go to this place after they had won awards at Wing Fest, but the closest location to us is about 35-45 minutes away. We made it a point to go out and try this place. I must say upon first impressions you are not sure how big it is when you first walk in but this place just seems to keep going and going. We liked the décor of the restaurant, although it was nothing special, it was cozy and comfortable. I was surprised to see that it was as much of a sit down restaurant as it was. For some reason I was expecting more of a Pub or Bar. With that said I was surprised by how many children there were in the restaurant, not that they were loud or misbehaving. The wings themselves were good, we had two different kinds. We liked the Sriracha based wing much more then the grilled wing we had but they were both good. We also had cheese curds that were tasty and had a nice light breading. The curd accompanying sauce was great. The food and beer prices were fair, not cheap but not excessive. They do have some specials that can help alleviate cost. They also seem to have a pretty solid beer list. They did have a couple discrepancies on our check but were prompt and polite when fixing them. The overall service was also prompt and attentive. We parked on the street and it seemed there was enough in the neighborhood. All in all the combo of the drive and nothing really jumping out at us we probably wont go out of our way to come here again but if we are in the area it would be up for discussion.

1st time customers: My wife and I were in search of a good restaurant with a friendly atmosphere that offered a high end bar menu. We arrived and were given a great two seater booth at the the front of the restaurant. The beer selection rivals any restaurant in Wheaton or Glen Ellyn and the burgers were super tasty. To compliment our experience, we couldn't have asked for a better welcome by Lorin, our waitress, and Drew, who presented us with a new comers gift. This restaurant is in the top in the area if you are seeking a completely rewarding dining experience. Thanks Lorin and Drew.

HORRIBLE service! Was in last night with a small group. Aside from one other table, we were the only people seated in the back area. An older woman that doesn't know how to smile was our server. No personality and clearly hates her job and possibly life. I waitressed for 10 years and I get there are bad days, but you should at least TRY to mask your bitchiness! Why work for $5 an hour and then not get that much needed tip because you make your customers feel like you hate them? I would have gotten past that if it wasn't for our night being abruptly ended after the other group of people had left. The waitress told us it was last call so my friend and I ordered another drink. About five minutes later, she gave us our bill, shut off all the tv's and hovered waiting for us to pay. I hadn't even finished signing my credit slip when she came to snatch it and told us they were closed and we had to leave. I still had half my glass of wine and my friend had a full beer, that we payed for and weren't even able to finish. This was just before midnight, and they are apparently open until 1am. I get that it was a slow night and a place may close early sometimes because of that, but not while customers haven't even finished what they ordered! Both the waitress and the bartender upfront seemed extremely angry and made us all uncomfortable. Won't be returning.

This place gets a "thumbs down" from me. I have been to several THG's in the 'burbs and this one is at the very bottom of my list for several reasons: 1. Ambiance -- There isn't much to talk about here. The design resembles the interior of a 60's era hotel lobby. The back room area is noisy, narrow, too bright and outdated. 2. Service -- The server was polite enough, but failed to handle a problem with a gift card (the card says that all locations honor it). Apparently this location can't process it. They didn't offer a convincing explanation about why they weren't able to process it and didn't offer any compensation for the inconvenience. I felt like they didn't want to bother trying to figure out how to run the card. 3. Beer - This place should not call itself a Tap House. They only have about 10 microbrews on tap. Some of the "pub grub" places I frequent do better than that. 4. Food -- The menu here is a bit more limited than some of the other THG's and is heavy on appetizers. While the food wasn't bad, I wouldn't rate it as better than just average. I won't be returning. My wife emailed the restaurant with her complaint about the gift card. Guess what? No response, so that tells you how much they care about their customers.

This was my first time at Tap House. There was a little bit of a wait, so I had to stand around in a small space....buuuut the bar is right there, so I waited beer in hand. Which by the way, they have quite the list of beers to choose from. I ordered the spicy pork tacos. They were great, and lived up to their name. They were pretty spicy, but a little sweet with the mango. The service was just ok, but they were pretty busy...so I'll let that one slide. All in all great place.

The Tap House Grill (we ate at the Glen Ellyn store) is a pretty basic pub type restaurant whose menu leans towards contemporary rather than, say, traditional Irish. The food is not bad, but it is not at all remarkable. The pub's menu and list of specials is online at the Tap House Grill website. We did not drink so I can't comment on the bar. The food menu is easy to take in. A brief skim shows its orientation to be pub-based dishes with a slight turn towards American New. For example, in addition to the traditional hamburger/cheeseburger, the restaurant offers a hamburger made with (American raised) Kobe beef. We each ordered the Kobe beef burger. My french fries were nothing special, but my friend's tater tots were pretty good. Try the tater tots when you go to THG. As for the menu's description of the Kobe burger, with Boursin mayonnaise and a herbed egg bun, the beef drowned out any possible subtle flavors suggested by either. The homemade pickle was good, a nice departure from the usual pub pickle. In general, the food was ok but not exceptional. Service: We had good service during our visit. Our server was attentive, and she returned my friend's burger for additional heat after it arrived at our table too rare for my companion's taste. Ambiance: This is a pub, and it has the ambiance of a pub. Booths and tables are good solid wood. It's noisy. Diners have a view of a TV from any table, which is standard for a sports bar. Price: For what you get, the Tap House Grill is expensive. Drinks might be another matter. In summary, the Tap House Grill, Glen Ellyn store, serves pub food with an American New twist. The food is mediocre. Service is good (based on one visit only). Ambiance is within expectations. The restaurant is somewhat pricey for the quality of food. Consider other ways to spend $15-$20 for a meal in Glen Ellyn.

The stuffed burger is delicious and the loaded tater totchos are otherworldly. Service is only average, but the small, chill setting is always nice. A favorite of mine.

Well this place was definitely a bit of a letdown. It's not to say this place is bad by any means. Just that with a menu that tries to put a creative spin on bar-style food, my expectations were a lot higher. Definitely the intent is there, but the execution is less than remarkable. We started with tater tot nachos which, once again, awesome idea, but while they were tasty, none of the ingredients really jumped out. I was really excited about the idea behind these, but after having them I'm not super jazzed about doing it again. The burger I got was actually very good. Just the right kind of juiciness and you get your choice of a bunch of more exotic cheeses (gouda and goat amongst them) which is nice. The fries that come with it, though, are the mediocre frozen from a bag variety. The service was very hit or miss. Our waitress seemed to bounce back and forth between attentive and non-existent, but the place was kind of busy for its size, so I won't hold it against her. While I did not partake last night, I did notice they have a modest craft beer list. (Apparently the Westmont location has a much larger one) I always appreciate places that at least try to give you offerings beyond the usual swill. But overall, the Tap House just didn't live up to its potential. It has got some good ideas for doing things a bit differently, but needs to make a better effort to really pull it off. If I'm ever in downtown Glen Ellyn again around dinner time, I would give it another shot, but I don't really think it's worth going out of my way to get there when so many other remarkable options exist nearer to me.

Nice selection of craft beers on tap. I usually go with the "Beer of the Month." The food is pretty good. Try the stuffed burger or the flatbread. The deep fried bacon with a side of ranch is an experience. The service is great and the bartenders are friendly.

A friend and I visited once and will definitely go again when we are in the area. The most awesome thing about our visit was the deep fried bacon. Sooooo yummy if you have the guts to try it! I only ate a couple of pieces, even though they give you a whole plate full. My heart definitely raced while driving home, though, haha! The martinis are great. All the other food we had was great as well- corn chowder and sandwiches (can't remember exactly which ones but they were good). Good service. Now that I'm writing this, I must go back soon!

this used to be our 'go to' place - could depend on interesting a tasty snack; sandwhiches and good drinks. Last week was the 2nd time to be disappointed. Do NOT order the red pepper/hummas wrap - horrible! and don't even think about ordering white wine by the glass - it has to be the cheapest, poorest selection available. Hubby still happy with his selections so far......no giving up...but pretty darn close.

My fiance and I just visited this place because I was in the mood for some "bar food". I have to admit, the kobe beef was very good. The shrimp tacos my fiance ordered were tasty as well. We ordered the crispy bacon appetizer and being a bacon lover it blew me away. The reason I could only give a 3 star review was the service. Nobody in the place was very friendly, our waitress barely checked on us and it seemed as if we were a burden to her and the rest of the staff. I will go again I hope the service is better because the food was great. Also, they have a good selection of craft beers.

I wish I could give this 3.5 stars, but of course, Yelp does this for a reason. I maybe could have given it 4, but our service wasn't very good. I had to ask for refills for other people, had to get my brother ketchup for his burger, and ask for ranch for my sister. Come on, hipster doofus waiter guy! Went on Friday night, bar area really busy. You walk through that, and there is 2 alternate dining rooms. We were in the farthest back dining room. My sister and her boyfriend ordered the Wisconsin Cheddar Cheese Curds, which looked ok...hard to screw those up. The ranch was a pesto ranch. Kind of like pesto + ranch = not a bad thing. For Seinfeld fans, I will explain briefly Manure If you think about it, manure is not really that bad a word. I mean, it's 'newer', which is good, and a 'ma' in front of it, which is also good. Ma-newer , right? Anyway, mom got fish tacos, sister got the THG Burger, her bf the pulled pork, my brother the kobe burger, and myself, well I got Shrimp & Jalapeno Mac and Cheese (not on menu, asked for it). It seems like this is the place to be (or at least one of them) for former Glenbard West grads. A lot of loud kids, rich lawyer dads, and health club as a 2nd home moms; typical suburbs, I guess. I would go back, during the week maybe, and hope for better service.

My family would always come to The Tap House because we have a family member who used to work there. We would always come in on Monday's and Wednesday's for the wings and burger nights. The atmosphere is friendly and homely. There is one negative to the place is how there always seems to be kids running around in the back room. The burgers and wings are very good. My favorite thing on the menu would have to be the homemade glazed donuts. They are TO DIE for. Probably my favorite dessert ever. I would recommend the Tap House.

Im a downtown resident of glen ellyn and have visited this bar many times... But on this occasion tonight I have never seen such a terrible service in my life! The bartender was rude and allowed to completely drunk young people to take our sit at the bar. Good luck in ur business, young man! We will never go back and will tell all our friends this place is not hospitable to adult paying customers.

Decent service, great bar food with wide array of choices, and great beer selection. Much better than Shannon's IMHO, we are converts to THG when downtown Glen Ellyn. Service was the only thing holding back on 5 stars... Keep in mind this is a bar not fine dining when I say great bar food, and our service wasn't too bad for speed on a slow night.

1st time customers wanting to patronize the local places in downtown glen ellyn. I called ahed to inquire about what soups they had and the person on the phone answered, cheese soup and chili. We headed over there for lunch...the man who took our order said they did not have the cheese soup ready. I had just called and they said they had cheese soup...guess you have to actually ask if they have it made or not. He said it would take 25-30 minutes to make. I said that is fine, by the time we are done, we can take it to go. I ordered their house salad and it was so watered down, no flavor and I asked for different dressing thinking that would help...only to be charged for extra dressing. Their is just 1 server waiting on the entire restaurant so if you need anything from the waiter you will wait forever unless you chase him down in the restaurant. I should of checked the yelp reviews before going here. This is actually my first yelp review and I felt compelled to let others know how bad it is here. bottom line ....bad service+terrible food = never coming back here again!!

"Great bar. Good food. Nice owner who really supports local sports teams. I love the No Knife Steak Salad. Great burgers too. There is the bar in front, middle room for families, the main dining room and the patio. I love this place and it is my local bar."

Tap House is a pleasant, unpretentious hang-out. Couple flat-screens for the sports fans and good bar food. Gets crowded on Friday and Saturday nights. Small bar in front can be cramped when busy. I like it better for lunch on a weekday.

A downtown GE staple - I'm inappropriately crazy about the pork nachos. Literally, I regularly have dreams about them. The food is solid, the place is huge - and they have a beer club which is pretty hilarious. Great place to watch a game.

Just got home from this place, it was like the third try, and now the LAST! Took my family, atmosphere is fine, bar, TV's etc... Then we ordered food. Fish and chips consisted of one piece, and two half inch wide pieces that barely resembled fish. Complete rip off, and fries that were stone cold! Wife asked for no dressing on sandwich, they ignored that, and, it was also cold. My daughter had a meatball panini that had raw hamburger in it, and even the raw meat was so sparingly used, I don't even think there was enough to give her food poisoning. Once the food came, no waitress until I chased her for the bill. I would have liked another beer, no opportunity to order one. Kids soft drinks ran dry, of course, no offer to refill because that would have necessitated we had a waitress. Save your money, DO NOT patronize this place. If I could give it zero stars, I would. A $60 bill for a complete joke of a meal! Goodbye Tap House!

Great Food but maybe one step too "fancy". Such as the Bleu Cheese flat bread. It was good as is but the balsamic drizzle took it one step too far and began to take away from the flavor mix. However, the wings (Sriracha honey), burger, and beer selection was top notch. We were there on a Late Saturday afternoon and the service was great but the "regulars" or "belly-ups" made it clear that we were outsiders at their bar. Overall, I recommend it and will be back.

Excellent beer selection with rotating taps regularly. Very good above average bar food menu, and outstanding burgers. The beer cheese soup is always excellent. Bartenders and servers are always very friendly and offer exceptional service. Lots of TVs to watch your favorite sporting events as well as a very kid friendly environment. The staff/ownership is a huge supporter of the GB West high school and is always promoting any of the events or fund raisers for our local kids. All in all, an excellent local place for good food, good drink, and good times.

This place should be renamed the IPA Tap House Grill. There beer selection is very heavy on IPAs. I'm not an IPA drinker and having this place be out of 4 other beers on a Saturday is just not acceptable. I spoke with the person who orders thier beer and he mentoined that they sell lots of IPA If that is your business model then I just want to make it known. My choices were either IPA what seemed limited Miller Lite or Blue moon which I could have gone to any other bar for. Also the Bar is is very very small I wouldn't expect to find an empty seat at this place to belly up to the bar, not a great place to watch sports. I happened to be here when there food delivery was happening. Seeing boxes of johnsonville and pre-packaged burgers come streaming on in was a bit concerning. I would say if you stray away for any of these type of dishes you should be ok. They seem to have a small custom fried food menu like wantons, pickles and bacon.

Casual bar food better than I expected. Good for watching a game, lots of TVs. Service decent to below average over four visits. Burger with Bleu Cheese was very good, the Jerk Tilapia sandwich was excellent. I may need to make that my go to pick here. The Shrimp Cobb salad is also excellent. The bar feel is average but I was impressed with the food. I will go back.

I was pleasantly surprised by this place. My husband and I have put off trying it because we like the Irish pub across the street so much, but we finally went in on a Thursday and really enjoyed it. I got the bbq pork (mmmmmmmmm) and he got a spicy grilled chicken sandwich. Both were delicious, (the house side salad that came with my sandwich was pretty tasty too) and the atmosphere was great. It's got an English pub thing going on. I would definitely go back.

If you go to watch the "NFL Ticket" where they show "all the games," be prepared to see 28 televisions showing two games. Food is tolerable, Bloody Mary bar is a nice concept. There is the occasional baby shower which may require stepping over babies left to languish in the middle of the floor under disinterested mother's gaze. NFL Sunday Ticket here is only a hoax. Great marketing tactic though.

Have gone to the Tap House Glen Ellyn many times. Several have been on a Saturday afternoon and have been a disaster. Female bartender/owner has zero personality and charged me .50¢ for an extra cup of blue cheese for my average buffalo wings. Worst part was when she poured someone the wrong wine she proceeded to pour it back in the bottle in plain sight. Really, is the economy that bad? Guess so. Sunday bartender is way better, will at least buy you a drink after a few rounds.

I have only been here once, when a friend was visiting from out of town, but I really enjoyed it. The service was definitely not fast, but I don't feel like you go to a bar to get a quick lunch. If you have time to sit down and have a few beers, you have time to wait for the waitress to finally wander over to ask for your food order. That being said, if you are in a hurry, yeah, you should probably skip this place. First of all, props for having Two Brothers available! I know Two Brothers is trying to expand and get their name out there, so by the end of the year, if not the summer, this may not seem like a big deal, but the fact that they are offering beers that you don't find everywhere on tap is great! I had actually wanted to take my friend to Two Brothers so she could try the Cain and Ebel Red Rye Beer but it was too far out of our way. Having this available definitely made my day! We ended up doing something I hate, but seeing as my friend is one of those people that I should hate that refuse to share their food, I'm okay with it. We both ordered the same thing (that was hard for me to admit!). Let me just say, a burger stuffed with melted cheese and jalapenos absolutely cannot be bad! However, the burger was cooked well, the burger wasn't too big (but def not too small), and the cheese was actually melted and oozing and soooo yummy! I really enjoyed it. And! If that wasn't enough - they gave me a choice to have TATOR TOTS instead of french fries with my burger. It had to be done! The tator tots were just tator tots but they were crispy and cooked how they should be, so I was pretty darn happy with my choice! Lastly, it was a perfect place to just chill and catch up. Not too loud, but there was definitely people in there and music on so you didn't feel like the whole restaurant was included in your conversation. I will definitely be coming back here to try some more entrees and get some more Two Brothers off the tap! I suggest you try it too!!

This place is what it is, and I don't feel like it tries to be anything but that....which is fine with me. They have a great beer selection, and the food is good. Not anything to write home about, but just something good to go with a cold beer. I'm not expecting some culinary wonder here...just the basics. I watch NFL games here on Sundays. A beer and a sandwich, and I'm a happy camper. That's all I expect...nothing more....and that's exactly what I get. Great local joint for having a few brews and chasing them with some OK food.

This place sucks....it's always crowded in here...you have slow service combined with wait staff and management FIGHTING IN PLAIN VIEW of customers. Oh yeah. I wanna run back here. And the food is nothing you can write home about. First and LAST TIME.

Nice bar / grill in downtown Glen Ellyn. I had the cheeseburger and it was nicely done. Also, the tater tots were good. I'd recommend this as a good option in Glen Ellyn as an alternative to Curly's.

Well let's just say that we have been here several times, and it seems like the more we go the less we like, why? um let's see.... our server had a head cold and kept wiping her nose with the back of her hand, she went outside for a smoke wich is fine but she smelled like smoke (badly) when she delivered our food! Did she wash her hands? we don't know. My burger was almost raw, I asked for medium. anyway... just saying

I've definitely found one of my favorite spots in the Chicago suburbs. Thank you Yelp! I live in Los Angeles and I'm visiting my mother who lives in Wheaton. My godfather and I wanted food at 10:30 at night on New Year's night. What the heck's gonna be open out here? Tap House Grill, that's who. Serving a full menu at 11pm. The spot is really cool. At first, I thought we'd be forced to sit at the front bar. Then I noticed a room with small tables and high stools. I thought that would be fine. Then I saw ANOTHER room in the back where we could sit at our own booth. It was PERFECT for what we wanted last night. Some place chill with good food. My godfather got some type of chicken pasta dish. I got a house salad and some wings. The house salad was actually really good filled with mixed greens and tons of other stuff. And it was big enough for both of us to eat. And then I got a 10pc order of wings, 1/2 bbq, 1/2 honey siracha. I really liked these wings. And the waitress was so nice and accommodating. I'll definitely go back, either late night or to watch a game. Tons of great plasma screens and lots of space!

How do you mess up bar food AND drinks? I have no idea. Ask the management and staff at Tap House. Occupying the space of the now-gone "Firkin & Fox" in quaint downtown Glen Ellyn, Tap House has managed to decline steadily in value, service, and quality. Since everything else was closed tonight, I decided to give them a change whilst waiting for my train. 1) Ordered my usual martini (Ketel One, dry, up, w/ a twist.) 2) Ordered Boneless Buffalo Wings. Now, I can always count on slow service, which is why it was a perfect choice for waiting for the Metra (vs outside in the cold.) However, my drink, when it arrived, was sub-par. 1) Tasted like a glas of vermouth. 2) Was in one of those stupid stem-less martini glasses. 3) was a half inch short of the rim - this is Chicagoland - our martinis are supposed to be TO THE BRIM. (Especially when this place charged $9) I couldn't drink the vermouth-tini, so sent it back, and the bartender ARGUED with me. "I didn't use any vermouth." B.S. - I could taste it. Very strongly. Finally after a ...er...passable martini arrived, (still in the stumpy glass) my Boneless Wings showed up...kinda. I say "kinda" because apparently, they had run out of the boneless nuggets and used chicken FINGERS instead. There is a huge difference. I had, instead of bite-size nuggets, long strips I had to cut up with a knife. Ugh. Save your money, go to Shannon's across the street instead. Good people, good drinks, and good food. The total opposite of Tap House.

Mannn...this location is a big thumbs down compared to the Westmont one! =[ We went to dinner on Saturday night with Osi V and her lover and pretty much got right in at around 7:30-ish. The place has a totally different atmosphere and MUCHHHH smaller beer list than the Westmont location! (Hate to compare...but I kind of have to in this instance.) We ordered the buffalo/mozz wontons and the fried pickles for an appetizer and had a blue cheese burger, cheeseburger, Italian beef flat bread and the calamari for our mains. The appetizers were okay, just smaller portions than what we were expecting...I mean, seriously, 7 pickle slices?!?! Really?! And the standouts of the main dishes were the blue cheese burger which was loaded with caramelized onions, sauteed mushrooms and bacon and the Italian flat bread. Those were both amazing, so I can only imagine they would be just as good or even better in WM. I will def not be coming back to this location, but I will still support the restaurant in WM.

Solid selection of beers on tap. Pity that the second one I ordered never arrived. Despite the place being virtually empty on a Sunday night - and it appeared there was a server for the back sections and patio - if you sit up front near the bar and expect to eat, forget about it, you're under the barkeep's care. After an ample wait, I had to step up to the bar to order. When my food arrived, I ordered a 2nd beer, which never made an appearance. I also had to step to the bar to get my check. The food? Decent burger, fries a little soggy. For a $10 burger, they could do better. But I was a little too cheesed off about the shoddy service to focus on the food by that point.

They have breaded fried bacon!! It is as tasty as it sounds. We went for dinner there one night. It really looks like a hole in the wall. When you walk in, it is just this small bar. You have to walk to the back of the bar and there is a sitting hostess for the back part. It was a little confusing because nobody was there and we had to stand there for a little bit before someone came. I didn't really like the dining area. It was more a old bar feeling. However, the food was really good. We had to start with the fried bacon. There was a ton on the plate. It was so tasty...It is horrible for you, but you have to try it! I had the fish tacos, which seems odd to get from a bar. They were awesome. I love fish tacos. My b/f got a burger which was good. I would probably go there again. I didn't like the atmosphere so much but the food made up for it. The menu didn't really seem like bar food though. There were tons of families there, which was surprising to me.

My husband and I went here on Monday evening after he had a long, stressful day at work and was looking to unwind and eat some good bar food. Walking in to Tap House, it is a standard looking bar located in the downtown area of Glen Ellyn. We were expecting to eat some average burgers and head home. WOW! We were wrong! We started the meal with the Cheesy Crab, Bread which was about 8 triangles of crisp bread with a cheesy crab topping and a side of marinara. My husband also ordered some of the BBQ chicken wings which neither one of us can't stop talking about. I am not a big wing person, but these were AWESOME! They were cooked to perfection. Crisp outside, moist meat, and a great sauce. In addition, the ranch dipping sauce was HOMEMADE which gets huge bonus points from me. Next came the burgers and fries, which were also some of the best we have had. One thing that I noticed is that each of the items we ordered came to our table HOT! Not warm, and I really liked that. My husband, who was starving, then insisted we get the Homemade KitKat to finish. He scarfed it down. For those of you wondering, it is basically a really large homemade KitKat served with whip topping and chocolate drizzle. It is almost mousse like with a cookie-ish bottom. Very good. Overall, our experience at Tap House was amazing. We were expecting a typical bar with typical bar food and although we ordered the norm: chicken wings, burgers, and fries, we got food that was well above average. In fact, it was amazing, and I imagine in the next week or so, we will be back for more. Apparently, there are 4 of these around. We went to the one in Glen Ellyn becasue it is near work, but we live in Aurora, and there is one is Oswego so I am sure this will be on our "To Do" list in the near future.

The food quality is so bad. What happened it was very good before. We had to send back may dishes. Also the level of service was poor.

My burger was almost raw, I asked for medium. anyway... just saying

They seem to have a small custom fried food menu like wantons, pickles and bacon.

this used to be our 'go to' place - could depend on interesting a tasty snack; sandwhiches and good drinks.

Casual style local pub. It's that place you go to watch the game and/or hang out with friends while eating American style pub food and drinking a beer. I've been a few times and have experienced very good service on each visit. I personally enjoy the apple walnut salad and a glass of red wine.

Always good food, always good beer and love the staff. The fried pickles and Cuban sandwich are my go-to choice, with the tater tots of course!

We were told that it was discontinued (so were the Won Tons WTH?) The manager said that they had the ingredients and they went ahead and made it for us anyway (kudos!) So we got a couple of orders of that deep fried bacon (yum!) But if you go there looking for it, they will probably not have it on the menu (shaking head) They still have decent food.. but, *sigh*
